Fighter Practices
As of November 2009, the Shire has 4 heavy fighters and 7 fencers. Fighter practices are (almost) every Wednesday. Fencing practice takes place every week and heavy practice every alternate week. Please contact the Heavy or Fencing Marshal for more information.
Limited crash space can be found for people coming from long distances. Practices are held at St Samson's Hall, Pentre Gardens, Grangetown, Cardiff, CF11 6QJ, from 19:00 to 21:00. Cost is £2.50 (GBP2.50), but your first practice is free.
Directions to the site
By public transport
The nearest bus, coach and train station is Cardiff Central. We can arrange to pick you up, or it's just a short walk or cycle to the site: turn left on to Wood Street, go over the river bridge, left down on to Taffs Mead Embankment, second right into Universal Street, bear left into Pentre Gardens and St Samson's Hall is on your left.
By road
From the M4 join the A48(M) at Cardiff, follow this road as it becomes the A48 (Eastern Avenue). Follow the A48 (which becomes Western Avenue) until you pass University Hospital Wales on your right. Take the next left (Mill Lane) onto the A4119 Cardiff Rd. Follow the A4119 into Cardiff (it becomes Pen-Hill Rd, Cathedral Rd, Lower Cathedral Rd, Clare St and Clare Rd.) Go under the railway bridge, then turn first left onto Pendyris Street. At the end of Pendyris St, turn right onto Taffs Mead Embankment. Turn first right onto Universal Street. Bear first left on to Pentre Gardens. St Samson's hall is on your left.
